Originally painted by hand in watercolour, the robin's brilliant orange-red breast creates a vivid focal point against softer washes of blue-grey and earthy brown.

But look more closely and another layer emerges.

Vintage musical notation runs through the painting, becoming part of the artwork itself and creating a visual connection between the bird we see and the song we associate with it.

Rather than simply sitting behind the robin, the music passes across and through the image, bringing together painting, typography and printed ephemera in a contemporary mixed-media composition.
