Big Ears, Brave Heart – Original Baby Elephant Watercolour

Sometimes courage comes in small packages.

Big Ears, Brave Heart captures a young elephant facing the world head-on — enormous ears, steady gaze and just a hint of uncertainty.

Painted in soft, layered washes of grey and blue, I wanted to keep the composition quiet and uncluttered, allowing this little elephant's expression to tell the story. There's vulnerability there, but determination too: that lovely moment when being brave doesn't mean you're not a little unsure.

Created entirely by hand in watercolour, the loose washes, subtle variations in tone and marks of the paper are all part of the original artwork.

A gentle painting about courage, growing up and finding your place in a very big world.

One painting. One owner. Made once, yours for keeps.

For life's brave little moments

With its themes of courage and growing into the world, Big Ears, Brave Heart could make a particularly meaningful piece for a new baby, christening, child's room or someone beginning a new chapter in life.

Not because it was created specifically as nursery art — but because sometimes a painting simply says something we want another person to remember.
